Last year MTV was casting for a new season of ’16 and Pregnant.’ This time they had planned to follow 4 girls during their pregnancies over a full season instead of having a new girl for each episode so the show would be formatted more like ‘Teen Mom.’ Which I thought would be a great way to dive further into detail about pregnancy and all the hardships that can come with it for a teen girl. Apparently though, this idea has since been abandoned.
According to The Ashley’s Reality Roundup: MTV’s new Executive of Original Content, Michael Klein says they “haven’t really looked at that, to be honest.” The network is more concerned with giving the fans more seasons of ‘Teen Mom’ and ‘Teen Mom 2.’
“There is a very devoted audience for those series,” he said. “As long as our audience is seeking it, we listen to our audience.”
So while we wont be seeing any new teen moms any time soon (Which is a good thing right???) we will be continuing to see the stories of Maci, Farrah, Catelynn, Amber, Jenelle, Leah, Chelsea and Kailyn. For as long as they keep signing contracts anyway!
Holy cow! It’s been a long time since I’ve shared some new about previous ’16 & Pregnant’ stars! Mainly because there are just SO many of them that it’s just impossible to keep up with all of them. That all being said I had to share with you the news of Ebony Jackson’s newest pregnancy because she’s one of the more memorable stories from the show. If you don’t remember, Ebony starred in ’16 & Pregnant’ Season 1 along with Amber Portwood, Maci Bookout, Catelynn Lowell, Farrah Abraham and Whitney Purvis.
Ebony and her now ex husband Josh Rendon ended up having two daughters. She tragically lost a pregnancy back in 2011 that led to a major depression. In 2012 the couple temporarily lost custody of their first daughter ( Jocelyn) due to unsanitary living conditions. They were able to clean up their lives and get their daughter back. They then had their second daughter, Jada.
Ebony and Josh did divorce and Josh now has custody of their two daughters. Ebony has been with her current boyfriend James Baldrick for over a year now and are expecting a baby girl on June 22. According to The Ashley’s Reality Roundup the couple plans to name her Jaelyn Zoria Baldrick.
’16 & Pregnant’ Season 2 trouble maker Nikkole Paulun keeps on creeping her way back into the spotlight with her wild antics. In case you didn’t know Nikkole is pregnant again and we are pretty sure it’s with an actual baby this time. (Read about her alleged fake pregnancy here.)
Well now Ms. Paulun has reportedly gotten herself into some hot water by shoplifting, or at least according to Starcasm.net, being an accomplice to shoplifting. “Nikkole was booked and released without a bond and it is expected that she will face a lesser charge than the initial third-degree retail fraud charge.” According to the website.
Nikkole responded to the massive backlash she has gotten from fans via Twitter, Stating: “Listen regardless of what happened, I was in the wrong. I knew something happened and didn’t say anything about it and went along with it. I confessed and admitted everything before anyone else said a word. I feel awful that I let something like this happen to me but honestly everyone’s negative sh!t is NOT helping me. The negative shit is not good for anyone, let alone a pregnant woman. I’m remaining as positive as I can for myself and my baby. If you’re gonna talk sh!t just please don’t even tag me in it.“
According to a source that spoke with Wrapped Up With Reality Nikkole plans to press charges against the arresting officer for “putting his hands on her. while pregnant.” I’ll be sure to update you guys with more info as it comes!
It’s official ’16 & Pregnant’ will never end… just kidding. Seriously though for how much this show has helped reduce teen pregnancy there are still plenty of pregnant teenagers for us to watch on TV.
Yes ’16 & Pregnant’ Season 6 is in the works and apparently it’s coming with a big twist! Instead of having individual one hour shows for each girl, the show will focus on four girls over an entire season. (Just like the ‘Teen Mom’ shows.) This should give us a closer look at the girls lives and how being pregnant in high school effects them.
Personally I think this is a great change for the show. It would be fantastic for the show to go into more detail about the struggles that a lot of young girls are unaware of. I think this will also give us time to be more invested in the girls that are featured and see more of each of their stories. It should also bring in more views each week. (Am I the only one that would miss an episode of ’16 & P’ once in a while but could NOT miss an episode of ‘Teen Mom?’)
What do you guys think? Will you be watching season 6?
